Choeung Ek Killing Field
Situated around 17km south of Phnom Penh, Choeung Ek was at one time a plantation and a Chinese memorial park. It was utilized by the Khmer Rouge administration as an execution ground to put down a huge number of individuals somewhere around 1975 and 1979. The site is presently also called the Killing Fields. Mass graves containing a huge number of bodies were found at Choeung Ek after the fall of the Khmer Rouge administration. A hefty portion of the dead were previous detainees in the Tuol Sleng jail.
